Military romance and intelligent, well-researched content – this novel by experienced and refreshing author Camelia Miron Skiba is much more than just your every-day romance on the block, and it’s totally worth the read! You all know me by now pretty well, and as such you know I don’t throw around with recommendations without truly believing in the content. This book stayed with me for months after I’ve read it. Well-researched, worked through and totally worth your time. Here’s a few words for you from the author herself, plus a great GOODY that you’ll most probably want to try for:

Then . . . Now!
Trauma surgeon Lieutenant Cassandra Toma begins her deployment at the Joint-Unit Air Base on the wrong foot. On her first day, she clashes with her new commander. Her rebellious nature and sassiness rival her excellent performance in the operating room. It might be the only reason she’s not reprimanded … or is it?
Major David Hunt is unsure how to handle the brilliant and beautiful Cassandra. As her commander, he can’t consider a relationship. A forbidden passion consumes them with the intensity of an erupting volcano, leaving her heartbroken and him with tarnished honor and pride as an officer. The only way out for David is disappearing into the dangerous warzone in Iraq.
When their paths cross again, Cassandra and David find they have a common goal—to find Cassandra’s brother, Maj. Robert Toma, kidnapped by insurgents while on patrol. To rescue him, they must put aside their resentments and fight their common enemy. And the fire between them is back.
Cassandra wants to give David—and their love—another chance. But she doesn’t know that his mistake, his secret, could cost them both the love they’ve finally found.
Oh, Ana my dear, thank you so very much posting this! I’m humbled by you kind words! I feel like it’s my birthday and allowed to bask in people’s attention. So very excited for the new cover! <3
I’m also very excited, dear Cami, and I meant every single word! I loved A World Apart, the intelligent, witty heroine and the seriously worked-through content. A lot to take from this book, it’s truly enriching not only for the soul but also for the mind.
From what I’ve read here, this looks like an excellent book, Ana. 🙂
Thanks for recommending.
Indeed, dear Chris, it really took me along so to say when I first read it about a year ago 🙂
I must give this a try. It reads like something that I would definitely resonate with given my 33 years of service from sadsack private to 4-Star joint staff operations. I can testify that conflict drives a deep passion. Now, let’s find out what A World Apart is all about. The new cover is eye catching and love the write-up. I’m hooked.
This might indeed be an interesting read to you. It’s one of Cami’s earlier books, very well researched in my opinion, but of course, you’ll be able to value that much more than me with your experience and profound insights. Big mega hug!!!
I downloaded it to my Kindle reader and liked the opening. It was a pleasant surprise to see she is a joint force attachment to a US contingent. I did many joint force missions with allied countries and even worked with Russian soldiers. I found those missions to be the most rewarding and can remember a lot of love stories beginning between the men and women of different nations. And it is very true that females find following orders much more difficult than male soldiers. They will often openly show their disagreement to superiors. 😉
It’s wonderful that you’re enjoying the book, dear cuzz! I thought you would be able to identify with certain situations and recognize scenarios. I’m really looking forward to your opinion of the book! Cami also wrote “The Dacian Legends” Born in Vengeance and Born In Sin, which are historical military (and romance, sure 🙂 based in 100 A.C. Those were cool military reads too.
Uh Oh! Just what Cami needs, a fanatic follower, lol! Historical military is my kryptonite. I can’t turn it down. I’ll see if I can find them tonight. 😍
Here is the first part, cuzz. The story is set in Dacia, the old Romania. Based on real history, except that I think Emperor Trajan never had a daughter Nerva. But I’m not sure 🙂

Oh thank you! I really enjoy her writing. I have my favorites but I read a huge variety of books and genres with equal enjoyment. I know many people have very well defined likes and dislikes but I can’t imagine my life without boundless choices. Cami is moving up to the top of the list quickly. 😊
I love her writing as well! I believe I’ve read all her books so far. Born in Vengeance really pushed all my right buttons 🙂
Now I can’t wait 😋
